Why Letting LinkedIn AI Tools Write Your Profile Is Subtly Working Against You

Why Letting LinkedIn AI Tools Write Your Profile Is Subtly Working Against You

August 20, 20261 min read

LinkedIn AI tools can now help write your headline, About section, and other parts of your profile in seconds.

It's fast. It's polished. It reads well.

And that's exactly the problem.

When everyone uses similar AI tools, profiles start pulling from the same familiar language:

"Results-driven leader."
"Proven track record."
"Passionate about driving growth."

Hiring managers have seen those phrases hundreds of times.

And when you're competing for executive opportunities, sounding like everyone else is a problem.

AI Doesn't Know What Makes You Different

The whole point of your profile is to stand out to the right person.

A tool built to produce the average cannot do that for you.

The part that costs you the most is what the tool leaves out.

What makes someone want to hire you is specific.

Maybe it’s the turnaround you led, or the team you rebuilt. Perhaps it’s why you moved from one industry to another or the judgment you bring that nobody else on the shortlist has.

AI doesn't automatically know those stories. Without your input, it fills the gaps with safe, polished language.

Polished phrases don't get you hired. Your story does.

In my next article, I'll show you how to use LinkedIn's AI tools without letting them flatten your voice, and how to combine AI efficiency with the human intelligence that makes your profile stand out.
